360-degree VR photography and videography is really starting to pick up steam in the media world, and while some people are eager to write it off as a novelty, it is capable of some truly interesting things. Recently, the New York Times tapped noted climbing photographer and National Geographic shooter Jimmy Chin to ascend to the top of 1 World Trade Center to make an interactive panorama.

The view from the top is nothing short of incredible, giving us an all-around view of New York City as far as the eye can see. You get the buildings and the bridges and everything else from a rather unique perspective.

The photos in the article above are also pretty amazing. Jimmy Chin is one of the nicest and most passionate photographers I’ve ever had the pleasure to interview, so it’s awesome to see him doing such cool stuff, even outside of the National Geographic capacity.
