Canon’s mirrorless camera gets its most reasonably priced lens yet with the introduction of the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM lens. The $400 lens can be purchased separately, but will also be bundled with the EOS R and EOS RP cameras—which for a lens like this makes a lot of sense, unfortunately we don’t know pricing details on those kits at this time. Here is what else we know about it:

  • 13 elements in 11 groups
  • Built-in stabilization rated to 5 stops
  • Rounded, 7-blade aperture
  • Stepping motor for quiet and fast AF
  • Control ring for easy access to specific settings
  • Length of 3.5 inches
  • Weighs 0.87 lbs

Ultimately this lens seems like a solid choice for someone who is just starting out and building a gear kit on a budget.
