By now, you’re probably familiar with the rather awesome video capabilities of Canon’s EOS 7D DSLR. However, with some help from an Adobe After Effects plug-in called Twixtor, some video makers have taken things up a notch. The super slo-mo BMX action above was shot entirely with a 7D at 720p/60 fps. Then Twixtor was used to stretch out the footage to give it the appearance of ridiculously slow 1000 fps.

While it may not be able to live up to the truly awe-inspiring performance of rigs like the Phantom, the results are very impressive. The price of the plug-in ranges from $169 for the Final Cut Express version up to around $600 for the full-featured version. According to the site it “synthesizes unique new frames by warping and interpolating frames of the original sequence, employing RE:Vision’s proprietary tracking technology that calculates motion for each individual pixel.”

You can download a trial on the Re:Vision site, then, with some trial and error, you can go pretend that you’re one of the Mythbusters.
