Amazon Photo Printing
The prints from Amazon are about what you’d expect to pay at a department or drug store. Amazon

In case you haven’t heard, printing photos is cool again, and now Amazon is getting in on the tactile action. Amazon Prints offers Prime customers a variety of printed photo products, which of course come with free shipping.

The individual print prices are about on par with what you’d expect from online or drug store printers, like Snapfish and Shutterfly. The 4×6 prints are $0.09, with the 5×7 prints checking in at $0.58, and the 8×10 prints commanding $1.79. Unfortunately, that’s as big as you can get with Amazon’s service, at least for now.

$0.09 is pretty cheap for a 4×6 and it seems that’s where Amazon expects to do a lot of its business. Pro-grade labs tend to charge a bit more than a quarter for their 4×6 prints, but they also give you the extra layer of assurance that care is being taken to match color and tone.

In addition to the flat prints, Amazon is also offering double-sided cards for thank you notes and invitations, as well as calendars.

Perhaps the most interesting thing, however, is that Amazon now offers photo books. You can choose from a regular hard cover book as well as a lay-flat album, which is the kind of thing typically used for a wedding. They start at $20 and go up from there.

Recently, Amazon has been changing around the way it uses photo storage, so it will be interesting to see if the company’s photo offerings continue to change going forward.
