If you never switch your 5D Mark II over into movie mode, you’re probably not very excited about the new firmware. But, if you have any interst at all in moving pictures, you definitely have reason to smile this morning. The update adds the sweet, cinematic look of 1080p footage at 24 fps (actual 23.976 fps) and also swaps the 30 fps mode to an actual frame rate of the industry standard 29.97 in both 1080p and 640 x 480 mode. Other features include the ability to manually adjust sound recording levels, a histogram when shooting movies in manual mode and the addition of Tv and Av exposure movie modes. If you have a chance to install it, leave a comment on this post and let us know how it works out for you. Oh, and if you’re one of those people I mentioned earlier who neglects your camera’s video mode, it’s time to expand your horizons and give moving pictures a try.
