Like its predecessor, the S100FS, the S200EXR feels and works a lot like a DSLR. The 1/1.6″ 12-megapixel Super CCD EXR sensor is the most advanced consumer-level sensor they offer and it brings with it welcomed features like optical IS, multi-bracketing and combined RAW/JPEG shooting. The battery life got a 50% increase from the previous version and the 14.3x optical zoom ranges from 30.5mm all the way to 436mm. It also shoots video, but don’t expect HD, as it maxes out at 640×480 at 30 fps. That means it’ll be smooth, but standard def. Of course, it comes with an array of shooting modes, including the film simulation modes and a Pro Focus mode that combines the distance information from three separate frames to blur the foreground and background while keeping your subject sharp. Take the jump for the full press release and expect to be able to get your hands on one for $599.95 (street) in August. Check out the official product page here.
