Perhaps you’ve read about Wayne Martin Belger’s unusual homemade cameras — now go see them in person! On July 12 and 13, the pinhole photographer will be diving and shooting with Yemaya, his underwater camera, at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. The photographer will host a Q&A during the shoot using a special underwater communications mask. A regular aquarium admission ticket ($11 for adults, $7.50 for children) will get you in to watch his dive at noon. Photographs from the shoot will be on display at Device Gallery in La Jolla from July 19 – Sept. 2, where Belger will also have five cameras and several photographs on display. The opening reception at Device Gallery will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 from 6-9pm. Good luck Wayne!
