Dear Editor,

I read with interest the article How To Shoot Cityscapes By Bryan F. Peterson (December, 2007) The article gives examples of eight second exposures taken in Times Square.

Last Saturday night, at midnight, on 42nd St beside Times Square, I positioned my camera on a tripod (carefully placing the tripod beside a rubbish bin so as not to disrupt pedestrian traffic) and was quickly
approached by a policeman who told me that photography on a tripod was not permitted. Go figure?

Yours sincerely,
Bernard O’Kane
