The testosterone-charged era of the laddy magazines continued its rapid contraction with the announcement that Stuff magazine would be folded into its larger sibling, Maxim. Five years ago these beer-broads-and-gadgets mags ruled the newsstands, but the formula became stale. Maxim rival FHM shut down it’s American edition, then Felix Dennis, owner of Maxim, Stuff, Blender, and other magazines sold his media properties to a private equity firm called Quadrangle Group, which made the decision to fold Stuff into Maxim. That move will take effect with the November/December 2007 issue. The question now is whether there is any life left in this category. Opinions?
