The second event of the holiday (in July) season took place last night at the Soho House in New York. Sony packed 47 of its products into the tiny showroom. Journalists had to vie for space to look at gear, or wait their turn to get their hands on the goods. Among the most exciting items there for photographers:

• HDR-CX7 High-Definition Memory Stick Handycam Camcorder, which Sony calls the world’s smallest and lightest AVCHD high-definition camcorder ($1,200, street)
•The PictureStation DPP-FP90 Photo Printer, a compact photo printer for $199, street.
•The 10.2 MP Alpha A100 DSLR ($600, street, body only)
•The 8.1 MP Cyber-shot DSC-T100 point-and-shoot with ISO up to 3200 and a Zeiss 5x optical zoom lens ($365, street)
• VRD-MC5 DVDirect Recorder, which lets you transfer home video and digital photos to DVD with a USB connection or memory card slots (available in August, $230, estimated street)
•GPS-CS1KA GPS Device, to track the location, date and time of photos ($150, street)

Luckily for you, all but the DVDirect Recorder are out now, so you don’t have to wait until November to start your holiday shopping.
