It's tough for tech companies to catch the attention of CES attendees, but Canon has some pretty cool technical demos in their booth that I wanted to share. They have a few mechanical contraptions showing off the inner workings of their lenses. The first one shows how their STM lenses focus smoothly. The second demonstrates their electromagnetic mechanism for changing the width of the aperture. And the third shows the moving parts of their image stabilization system.
When we use cameras every day, it can be pretty easy to take them for granted, but it's downright incredible how intricate some of the tech inside of them can be. Plus, each one is kind of mesmerizing, so even if you don't really care about the tech, they're pretty fun to watch.
