AP Images Launches New Website
Wire service's archive division looking to makes strides in resale market.
A new Website launched today by The Associated Press’s AP Images division strives to make it easier for buyers to search and download images from the AP and its partners.
The site’s enhanced search engine will allow users to save searches and to receive e-mail alerts when new images that match their search criteria are added. Advanced lighbox features include image grouping, drag-and-drop editing and user notation.
The new AP Images site also centralizes images from the AP’s content partners, providing potential buyers with a single platform from which to procure photos from Tim Graham, the UK Press Association, VII, Women’s Wear Daily, and U.S. newspapers.
Although the site looks relatively unchanged from its former incarnation, it does now include a scrolling photo bar highlighting top news images for the day. AP Images vice president Ian Cameron, formerly with Getty Images, suggests in today’s press release that more changes are in store for the division.
