The Samsung PL20 (shown here), offers 720p HD video capture for $120.
Samsung announced two budget-oriented compacts this morning, in the form of the PL20 and the ES80.
The $120 PL20 features a 14MP CCD sensor, a 27mm wide lens and 5x optical zoom (27-135mm 35mm equivalent). Other features include digital image stabilization, a Li-ion battery, 720p HD video at 24fps, as well as a plethora of Smart Filters and scene modes—not bad for just over a hundred bucks.
However, if under a hundred dollars is more your price-range, the $99.99 ES80 may be for you. While it steps down to a 12MP CCD sensor, it does keep the same 27mm lens with 5x optical zoom as the PL20. It also features digital image stabilization, an internal charging system, object tracking AF and the same long list of scene modes and Smart Filters—it does not feature any form of video capture.
The PL20 will make its way to stores sometime in March, while the ES80 will hit shelves sometime in April. Both will be available in silver, pink, black, and the ever-popular tomato red.
