FROM OUR EDITORS AT PHOTOKINA:** Leica announced its all-new D-Lux 5—the expected update to their flagship compact line. Other than the iconic red badge, the D-Lux 5 is essentially the same camera on the inside as the Panasonic LX5, so it’s no surprise that their specs are nearly identical. Although this shouldn’t be held against the D-Lux 5 seeing as we are quite impressed with the LX5.
It features the same 10MP 1×1.63” sensor, the same 35mm focal length equivalent f/2-3.3 24 to 90mm lens and the same 1,280 X 720p HD video recording at 30 fps. It also has the same nifty aspect-ratio control located over the lens and the same 3” LCD.
The D-Lux 5 does however come standard with a copy of Adobe Lightroom. Available in October, the Leica D-Lux 5 will run you about $799.
