Astronaut captures Gulf oil spill from space

By now, we're sure some of you are following astronaut, Soichi Noguchi, on Twitter because of the amazing pictures he has been posting from the International Space Station. His latest post contains a comet's eye view of the tragic oil spill that's currently unfolding off of the eastern coast of the US. The image itself, like just about everything else he has posted, is beautiful. But, it also does even more to convey the size of the spill, which is absolutely massive.

The photo was captured with one of the Nikon D3S bodies that live on-board the ISS.
