Whenever we receive a good photo that we think could be better, we ask ourselves a question: What is the picture about?
In this scene of Burrard Inlet in British Columbia, Canada, taken by Vancouver resident Ramunas Wierzbicki, the answer is the sky—the clouds looming over the mountains, dwarfing the tankers on the horizon. While the water presents a textural counterpoint to the sky, the two elements fight each other for attention for the same reason. The composition is also a little too evenly divided top to bottom.
