Letter of the Week: Film Camera Help!

To:re using a Nikon Speedlight as your flash.

I've got a new Nikon F-5 film camera and when I tried to shoot night flash the camera wants to go to 1/8 sec. The pictures turn out blurry. I lost the book and need to set up the camera to not shoot slower than 1/60. I do a lot of night shots at drag races so this is very crucial to getting sharp pictures. Any help would be much appreciated.

_We assume you're using a Nikon Speedlight as your flash.

It sounds as if you're shooting in program or aperture-priority mode, and the camera is consequently setting a slow shutter speed for the dim conditions. Simply switch to shutter-priority mode (the S on the top control panel) and set the shutter speed you want._
