The super slow motion features on some of Casio’s cameras are extremely fun to play with, but the loss of resolution makes it less than practical. Seeing shots like this one from a BBC program called South Pacific make us very excited about the technology advancing. The footage above was shot with a $100,000-plus cam that shoots HD footage at 20x the framerate of a normal one. The results are incredible. We can only hope that once manufacturers get bored bragging about their HD-shooting DSLRs (which we love) they’ll start working on perfecting consumer-grade super slo-mo.
Note: Definitely opt for the HD version of that Youtube vid. It’s mesmerizing.
