Former Life magazine director of photography and prolific author John Loengard has a exhibition of his own pictures up at the Century Association in Manhattan. It’s a small show with a lot of power, featuring his images of fellow photographers like Berenice Abbott and Annie Leibovitz, and his iconic portraits of the Beatles, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Bill Cosby. This is a chance to admire formal black-and-white portraiture informed by a sensitive and intelligent mind. If you’re in New York in the next week or so, you can view the images at 7 West 43rd Street.–David Schonauer
