Where to Go and What to See

Perhaps it is because I'm a city-dweller that my top gallery pick this week is Gail Albert Halaban's Out My Window at the Robert Mann Gallery. Halaban's photos depict comfortable, private, and internal settings that are immediately abreast open, public spaces. In a city, these two realms are compressed and Halaban's vivid photographs manage to capture both worlds (and their oppositional relationship) in one frame. The series was created through Halaban's Photo Urbanism fellowship, which encourages exploration of New York public spaces.
