Rocky Mountain News Folds

It America is losing its newspapers: The San Francisco Chronicle is said to be close to folding, and the Philadelphia Inquirer is teetering.

It's sad to see the Rocky Mountain News fold. The Denver newspaper has over the years done wonderful reporting and photography. (Go here to read the newspaper's farewell editorial.) I'm thinking especially of the long feature that Todd Heisler shot a couple of years ago, documenting the crew of soldiers that accompanies the bodies of fallen soldiers.  America is losing its newspapers: The San Francisco Chronicle is said to be close to folding, and the Philadelphia Inquirer is teetering. And I read recently that the New York Times (where Heisler is now working) is looking at a "last man standing" strategy for the future. Survival is the new success.--David Schonauer
