Where to Go and What to See

This week, the Metropolitan Museum of Art asks viewers to decipher what is real and what is illusion with its photo exhibition, "Reality Check" (culled from its permanent collection). The mix of "staged" photos that look real and "real" photos that look staged will surely make you question your own interpretations of art and its purpose. The exhibit also presents an intriguing challenge for any art skeptics (children?) who manage to tag along with you.

My other pick for the week is Michelangelo Pistoletto's Luhring Augustine exhibition (see photo), the Italian artist's first solo show in New York in more than 10 years. Not from New York, you say? Not a problem. We have more listings for galleries nationwide this week than we do for the Big Apple. —Lindsay Sakraida
