Your Photo: Our Critique

Stephanie Radcliff submitted this photo taken with a Sony Cyber-Shot DCS-T70, at 1/125 sec, f/4.3, ISO 160. It’s an interesting placement of the subject in the corner, leaving the other kids in the background for context, and the kid’s expression is classic. I am surprised how grainy this image is at such a low ISO. The focus on your main subject is very soft and he would have benefited from some more light on his face, either reflected or a little pop of fill flash.

The black-and-white conversion gives it the feel of an older photo, which I like, but this conversion did not make the most of all of the data. Overall this is a nice shot for the family but needs better exposure and focus. If you still want to go with a black-and-white conversion look into the best approach to getting to your end result.
