Brede Petersen shot this flower with a Canon EOS 30D with an exposure of 1/30 sec at f/3.5, ISO 320. While I’m a sucker for pretty flowers, this one just doesn’t make the cut. The background is way too dark and there is no composition. Next time shoot when there is more light outside or bump up the ISO for a lighter exposure. If using a tripod, don’t be afraid to use a really slow shutter speed to get a well-exposed photograph. Also, think about the placement of the flower and use the Rule of Thirds as a guide.
