An article it today’s Newsday offers some photo-related advice to dieters: take a picture of everything you eat.

According to a study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, photo diaries were more effective than volunteers simply writing down everything they ate. Taking photos of food before it was consumed not only helped illustrate binges, but made participants pause and re-evaluate their choices before they started eating.

Who knows, you might lose weight and improve your photography at the same time.
