Photo treks are a great way to explore a new place with the support of other photographers. The problem is that most visit popular hot spots on well-worn paths. More rewarding, both photographically and personally, are places that few tourists tread, places like Ethiopia. Luckily, exploring all the East African nation has to offer (camera in hand) just got easier.

Ethiopian Airlines Journeys has partnered with F/STOP Studio of Washington, D.C. to offer the “Queen of Sheba Timket” and the “Queen of Sheba and Simien Mountains” photography journeys. Each tour is led by a professional photographer from F/STOP Studio, and follows historic paths through ancient Ethiopia.

These tours are your chance to not only capture breathtaking sites such as 17th century palaces, ancient empires, 12th century rock churches, the Blue Nile Falls, the festivities of Timket, and the sunrise in the Simien Mountains, but to meet the fascinating people a very unique place. Editor in Chief John Owens documented his trip to Ethiopia in January 2007. Read about his experiences and check out a slide show of his images here.

Both photography journeys start at $4,338, which includes round-trip and domestic airfare, hotel accommodations, meals, ground transportation, and professional guides. For complete itineraries and information, click here, or call toll-free 1-866-599-3797.
