Your Photo: Our Critique

This rose photograph was submitted by an amateur photographer looking for feedback to improve their photography skills. Using a Fuji S700, at 1/17 sec, f/6.3, ISO 1600. For a first attempt you have done a good job selecting a flower with good color and detail. In general this is a nice photograph and filling the frame was a good decision.

For a first attempt you have done a good job selecting a flower with good color and detail. In general this is a nice photograph and filling the frame was a good decision. With such a slow shutter speed I am assuming you had the camera stabilized. If that is the case, next time try to use the lowest ISO possible to avoid digital noise or the pixilation that this file shows at full size. In addition to using a lower ISO opening up your aperture, using a wider aperture of f/4 will allow more light in and still keep the flower in focus. These two adjustments will give you a cleaner digital file to work with and a higher quality photograph as a result.
