Dorian Leigh, the famed fashion model who posed for Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, and many other great fashion photographers, died on Monday at age 91. You can read the New York Times obit here. According to the Times, Leigh appeared on the cover of Vogue seven times in 1946 alone. The newspaper quotes Eileen Ford as saying Leigh was “the best model of our time.” Students of fashion history will know that Leigh’s younger sister was Suzy Parker, who became even more famous as a model and then actress.
