R. Edward Lewis submitted this photo of an orange slice splashing into a glass of water. Look in our upcoming August Issue for a how-to story on dropping fruit into water. In this case, the saturation hurts my eyes. Shoot in RAW and make sure you don’t push that saturation slider any further up that it has to be. Colors too bright look unnatural and unflattering. I like the simple black background and the water splash is nice, caught at a slow shutter speed, but the composition could use some work. I think the glass in the background with the lemon and lime slice is distracting and unnecessary. Also, leave some room at the bottom of the photo. It seems too tightly cropped or misframed.
