Shooting The Boys in Las Vegas

Timothy Greenfield-Sanders emailed me earlier today to show me one of his most recent portraits. "It seems that what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay there," he noted. He was in Las Vegas to do a portrait of legendary casino kingpin Steve Wynn. Greenfield-Sanders was shooting Wynn with a Polaroid 20x24 camera, and Wynn loved the result, which of course he was able to see almost instantly. He told the photographer to hold on while he went out to get "the boys." When I heard that, I kind of pictured Joe Pesci and Bobby De Niro. Instead, Wynn returned in a few minutes with billionaires BFFs Warren Buffet and Bill Gates. (I'm not sure what they were doing in the Wynn hotel, but do they really need a reason to be anywhere?) Above is photo of Greenfield-Sanders (bottom row, second from left) with Wynn (to his right) and the boys, who can be seen in the second row.--David Schonauer
