Gwen Holdiness sent in this photo she took with her Canon PowerShot SD750. She shot it with an exposure of 1/200 sec at f/4.9, ISO80. Perhaps she should have used a higher ISO of about 400 to get more detail in the house or a slower shutter speed. The line of the pier cuts across the photo directly in the center. Next time try zooming out to get the entire reflection of the tree in the shot and use the rule of thirds, placing your horizon line either at the top or bottom third of the photo. Also, in editing I suggest changing the levels. Bring the highlights and mid-tones up and darken the shadows. This will give the photo more contrast. Punching up the saturation won’t hurt either, just don’t go too far.
