This image of taken of Jack Nicklaus hitting the first tee shot off at the Cordellera Ranch in Boerne, Texas was submitted by Carlton Wade. Carlton clearly enjoys shooting landscapes and has captured the ever-changing Texas Hill Country sky. The clouds give this image a painterly feeling. The spectators become wonderful leading lines. I like the wider perspective that allows the flow to move around the tee box and up through the right of the photo. Knowing with sports you don't control the crowd it is a shame there was couple in the bottom right. They tend to detract from the rest of the image, they are not in scale with the other people and the lighter colors of her hair and his hat pull your eyes to the corner. To crop them out would abruptly diminish the sweeping line of spectators that trails off. Overall this image is a great example of turning the ordinary into something special.
