Your Photo: Our Critique

David and Jane Vickers have sent in this image. I really like the fact that only one side of his face is lit. The low angle of the light does accents the lines of his arms, adding detail to the shot. The light and the colors all work very well together, the skier and the water make a nice visual triangle.

David and Jane Vickers have sent in this image. This is a great shot. Using Nikon equipment this shot was taken with at 1/1000 sec at f/5.3 and ISO 400. The shutter speed allowed the frozen water in front of the skier. The low sunlight gives a warm golden glow, and lights up the face. I really like the fact that only one side of his face is lit. The low angle of the light does accents the lines of his arms, adding detail to the shot. The light and the colors all work very well together, the skier and the water make a nice visual triangle. The only adjustment I would make is to straighten up the horizon, which might require a slightly less tight crop to avoid cropping right above the head.
