Your Photo: Our Critique

This image was submitted by Dave Gerard, who says he’s new to photography. David was concerned about blocking the mountain, which doesn’t bother me at all. Sometimes we don’t have to see the whole scene to know it’s there. I think this is a very successful shot. The aperture gives you a nice depth of field.

This image was submitted by Dave Gerard, who says he's new to photography. David was concerned about blocking the mountain, which doesn't bother me at all. Sometimes we don't have to see the whole scene to know it's there. I think this is a very successful shot. David was using a Sony A100 on program mode, the settings were 1/80 sec at f/11, ISO 100. The aperture gives you a nice depth of field. The light was soft and from the side showing details to the skull. There are a lot of nice lines to follow and I really like the perspective he has chosen. The colors work nicely together and David didn't go crazy post processing. There was obviously a lot of thought put into this photo. Good job.
