New York readers should drop by The Strand bookstore tonight for a discussion with Jeff Wall by Michael Newman, the editor of the recently published Jeff Wall: Works and Collected Writings ($59, 2007). One of the most inventive photographers of the 20th century, he’s often considered one of the pioneers in moving photography into the fine art world, with his meticulously and elaborately staged large-format narrative images. The conversation starts at 6 p.m. and goes until 7:30p.m., at which point Jeff Wall will be signing copies of the monograph, which is a substantial 392-page collection includes 139 images along with much of Wall’s theoretical writing. If you can’t make it out and want a signed copy of the book, you can order it here.
