Nature photographers, travel photographers, fine-art photographers and tourists should plan on getting to Lake Mead in the next few years–that is, if they want to get any pictures with water in them. The lake behind Hoover Dam has been getting smaller and smaller for a while. (I saw it last summer, and it’s shocking how low it is.) According to various studies, there is a 50-50 chance it will be completely dry by 2021, And there’s a 1-in-10 chance that is will be dry by 2014. The cause of the big drain? Increased water us and climate change: There’s not as much snow falling in the Rocky Mountains. –David Schonauer
