A couple calls for entries have come across my desk this week, so I thought I would make sure everybody knows about them. The first is the APA’s Tell Us A Story contest, which calls on photographers to submit their best photo story. The deadline is February 29; winners in the professional and student category along with juror’s selections will appear in an exhibition at the HP Gallery at Calumet Photographic. Prizes TBA.
The second contest is brand new — and provides a little more time for submissions. The brand new NYPH New York Photo Festival is being sponsored by powerHouse in DUMBO this year, running from May 14-18. (It popped up just after last year’s Magnum festival, but you didn’t hear that from me.) Of course, what would a new festival be without a new set of awards, this time in Editorial, Advertising, Personal, Books, and Multimedia categories. The main prize seems to be “unprecedented visibility,” but other goodies may be announced later. Get your submissions in by April 14. And good luck!
