Two of the photographers included in American Photo's "Emerging Artist" issue in November are making their New York exhibition debut this week. If you live here, or happen to be in town, the work is really worth checking out. The photographers, Nicolai Howalt and Trine Sondergaard, are a Copenhagen, Denmark-based team, and images from their "How to Hunt" series will be shown at the Bruce Silverstein Gallery. The show opens on November 29. The images in the series are digital composites that examine the notion of modern identity. "Hunting once was a human need, and it's also a classical theme in art history," says Howalt of the work. ""I wanted to place this theme in a modern context, where, at least in the affluent postindustrial west, hunting can be seen as a symbol of 'the good life.'"
