Where to Go and What to See

~Miki Johnson

If you're the kind of person who likes to hop a wave as it's swelling rather than once it's already crested, then this is your week to hit the photo shows. A few early-bird exhibitions are opening now, undoubtedly hoping to get a little undivided attention before the flood gates open up next week and the fall season is officially off and running. You can contemplate a few of our century's great tragedies (both in well-appointed book form) at powerHouse Arena's opening for its Darfur book and a reinstatement of Here is New York: Remembering 9/11/01. Or you can mull over one of life's most beautiful, graceful sports--surfing--at M+B in L.A. Either way, enjoy having the time to step back and think about what you're seeing...while you still can.
