It’s not like us to favor a product because it’s pretty, but, wow!, is the SanDisk Cruzer Contour slick. The glossy black and silver metallic body has a sense of style that is lacking in most flash drives, and slide design is both smooth and practical (no cap to lose, no way to accidentally damage the connector).
The Cruzer comes in both 4GB and 8GB capacities ($80 and $150, street). The 4GB model that I’ve been using worked seamlessly between my Mac at the office and my PC at home and has plenty of space for the price (I’ve stored nearly 3,000 photos on it).
Overall, its performance leaves very little room for complaint. The write speed is fast (18MB/sec), and the pre-installed software pops up when you plug it in, and has some useful extras like password manager and protection and CruzerSync for synchronizing files between a PC and the drive. The software also gives you Skype phone service and two games.
