Call For Entries: W. Eugene Smith Grant

One of photography's most prestigious awards, the $30,000 grant is bestowed on a photographer whose work upholds the exemplified by the life and work of W. Eugene Smith. An additional $5,000 in fellowship money is also rewarded at the discretion of the jury.

The 2007 W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography is now open for entries. Interested photographers can download an application online; entries deadline is July 15, 2007.

One of photography's most prestigious awards, the $30,000 grant is bestowed on a photographer whose work upholds the "commitment to documenting the human condition" exemplified by the life and work of W. Eugene Smith. An additional $5,000 in fellowship money is also rewarded at the discretion of the jury.

Last year's award went to Magnum photographer Paolo Pellegrin for his project "MAKTA--It Is Written: A Journey Through the Lands of Islam." Teru Kuwayama received the additional $5,000 grant.
