Our mentors Bob Smith and Tom Bol brought each photo shoot to life with their insight, perspective, excitement and expertise. Their passion for photography and their willingness to share their creative and technical skill with the trekkers made learning easy and fun. Bob’s critique of the individual trekkers work was invaluable and absolutely the best teaching tool of the entire trek. Vanessa, our “House Mom” ensured we stayed on schedule and that trekkers enjoyed a weekend where they could focus on learning and enjoying the experience.

Each of the site visited presented our mentors with opportunities to challenge the trekkers to explore, experiment and most importantly improve their skills. Whether it was shooting scenic landscapes at Garden of the Gods or Summit Lake, Denver’s low light skyline, trout fishing model at a trout pond or a vintage railroad crossing a railroad bridge Bob emphasized preparation, vision, creativity and patience as critical to success. Each trekker arrived on Friday with individual expectations for the weekend and I am sure they all left on Sunday better photographers.

Thanks again to all who made it happen and to those who participated…
