June 2011 Photo Challenge: High Key Lighting

Try your hand at high-key lighting by June 30, and you could get $100 and your photo and story in the pages of Popular Photography.

Images with primarily white and light gray tones lend a simplicity, innocence and ethereial purity to a subject. The technique works well for romanticized portraits, such as in Nilgun Kara’s beauty shot here and for portraits of children. Wintery or foggy landscapes and floral studies work too. Just be creative!
