Capturing the Democratic National Convention… by americanphotomag

Plenty of important images are being created this week during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, but the most difficult capture may have happened on Monday by Abbas Shirmohammadi, a fourth generation photographer tasked with taking a panorama of the DNC with a camera that is 100 years old.

This antique piece of gear has been used at every Democratic National Convention and during the last six presidential inaugurations. The most complicated part? Getting a room full of delegates to stand perfectly still for the minute-long exposure.
