Michael J. McNamara is Popular Photography & Imaging Magazine's Executive Technology Editor and a renowned expert on digital cameras, imaging products, color film, and color management systems. Since 1999, he has also been the Editor of Pop's annual Digital Imaging Guide. Mike graduated with Highest Honors from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1990 with a B.S. degree in Imaging and Photographic Science and served as adjunct professor at RIT before joining Popular Photography.
During his editorial career, Mike has had hundreds of articles and thousands of photographs published (including over two dozen Pop Photo covers). He's appeared on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS, and QVC, been quoted in USA Today, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, and Photo Industry Reporter. His work has also appeared in American Photo, Woman's Day, Boating, Travel Holiday, American Baby, and Stuff magazines, as well as The New York Times. In January, 2005 he also hosted the CES SuperSession examining the impact of cell phone cameras on the digital camera market.
With over 25 years as a professional photographer and over 17 years experience testing film, digital cameras, and imaging products, Mike combines an extensive knowledge of traditional photography with an in-depth understanding of digital imaging and consumer imaging trends.
