What's Hot: A rugged, reliable tank of a camera with lots of controls for the photographer.

What's Not: It's a bit heavy because it's a rugged, reliable tank of a camera.

Review: I've been shooting thousands of photos with the D200 for well over a year now and it hasn't failed me yet - assuming that I, the lowly user, have remembered to program it correctly. For example, I recently returned from a 10-day shoot in England and discovered that I had set the white balance on "cool fluorescent" and left it there. Consequently, all my shots, whether indoors with available light, outdoors in sunlight, or with flash had a kind of purplish cast. Oh, well, thank heavens for Photoshop, which allowed me to correct the white balance. Also, some of the shots had such an interesting color cast that I pretty much let it stand when I made prints. Aside from my being a digital dummy sometimes, the D200 has, so far, stood me in good stead for every shot I've taken with it. If you've got the two grand (or so) that it takes to buy this gem, then I say go for it. You won't be disappointed.
