What's Hot: Picture quality is very good, excellent color, noise reduction at 3200 ISO is very good, true 3.5 fps, menu/setup is easy to use, view finder accuracy
What's Not: Not fully weather resistant, CF door, no GPS, LCD is hard to read in sunlight, AF point 15 for the price should be like the 1D's,

Review: The Canon EOS 5D is very responsive: quick startup, auto focus is fast (depending on the lens). With some wide-angle lenses (some barreling), great colors, excellent for landscapes and portraits, metering is good and would be better if equipped with the 1D’s metering -- same for the auto focus points.
Overall, the camera is very responsive with excellent noise reduction at the high end, great low ISO at 50, bright colors and great presets for picture styles (landscape, faithful, portrait, standard, neutral and user-defined presets). The menu is easy to read and understand for everyone from beginners to pros, and the camera has a very good range of custom functions. It also comes with default setting, which allows for great pictures right out of the box.
I have shot with both the Canon 20D and the new Nikon D80, and the 5D picture quality has a sharper image and, when details are blown up to the max, there is no question that the 5D provides a better quality of picture when compared to the 20D and Nikon D80.
In comparison to the Nikon D80 menu system, which is quite extensive, the 5D is less confusing and easier to use without having to toggle through the menu. The 5D wheel lets you easily go through the menu without having to press a lot of buttons.
Depending on your means, this is a very good camera if you want to move to the next level between amateur and pro.
