There are plenty of ways do some basic customizations to your camera, but what if you want to really get your hands dirty, and change what the device can do? Samsung has released the source files for the new Android Galaxy EK-GC100, opening the doors for some pretty powerful hacks.

One of the more interesting compact cameras at Photokina this year was the Samsung EK-GC100 Galaxy Camera, which runs Android and has a 3G/4G data connection. Now, AT&T has announced that they'll carry the phone, but we're still waiting on a number of details.

In recent years, Samsung has made their commitment to connected cameras abundantly clear, and with their huge cellphone division, that has never come as a surprise. But, today they've announced the development of their first full-on Android-powered camera in the EK-GC100 Galaxy. With built-in 3G/4G, it's the most connected camera this side of your cell phone.

Samsung's newest venture into the world of high-end compacts is the EX2F, which packs one of the widest apertures to be seen in a compact camera. The EX2F has a 12.4MP 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor, an articulated 3-inch swivel VGA-resolution AMOLED display, and a handy-dandy WiFi connection for remote control or backup — but what will most likely perk up the ears of photography enthusiasts is the f/1.4-f/2.7 Schneider-Kreuznach lens. It's a a 24-79mm equivalent 3.3x zoom, and even at the full tele end will keep a nice wide aperture of f/2.7.
