Portraits of Love is an annual even organized by the PMDA and Soldiers' Angels in order to give something to troops stationed overseas during the holidays. Being stuck away from loved ones is hard enough for anyone during the later months of the year, let alone if you're stationed half a world away in life-threatening danger. The organization allows any military family with a member stationed overseas to send them a family portrait for free.

By now, you have probably seen many photo projects comemorating the events of September 11, 2011. While many of the intiatives focus on the brave first responders, the New York Times has put together an immense photojournalistic project of portraits of the people working at the construction site where the new One World Trade Center is being built.

As a portrait photographer, one of your main jobs is to make shoots interesting and fresh. When you're doing tons of engagement portraits, that can be quite a challenge. But, photographer  Amanda Rynda skipped the traditional props in favor of a raging zombie. The results are, well, awesome.

Looking for reflections and contemplating the metaphorical implications of double exposures lets photographer Ramsay de Give experience the world with fresh eyes. He recalls the awe and wonder he experienced on seeing double exposures as a child—happy accidents that resulted from frames that didn’t advance through his parents’ 35mm film camera. “As a pro, I sometimes hit a creative wall, not producing anything I like,” he says.“Chasing dreamy reflections on assignment has been a means to visual exploration and it allows me to stay creative.”
