Meet Pentax's most expansive zoom

With the widest zoom range of any current Pentax lens (7.5X), the new 18–135mm f/3.5–5.6 ($500, street) is the closest it has today to an all-in-one zoom. A 27–202.5mm full-frame equivalent, this is also one of the few lenses in its class with a weather-resistant (WR) O-ring on the lensmount. Other perks: A quiet DC AF motor and seamless shifting between manual and autofocus.

Pentax Optio WG-1 GPS Waterproof Compact Will Soon Come in Orange

Starting in July, Pentax's rugged compact will get a high-visibility makeover

It took a while after its release for Pentax to slap some orange skin on their W90 rugged compact and it seems they have followed the same schedule with the WG-1 GPS. But, starting in July, you'll be able to get one in orange, as well as the purple, black and green models that are already available.

Pentax has revealed their newest accessory for DSLR users, a GPS unit which plugs into the flash hot shoe of their cameras. The Pentax GPS Unit O-GPS1 (if you want to get official) will set you back $249.99, and Pentax is promising it will be up for preorder shortly.

Rugged cameras are getting tougher all the time. They can stand bigger falls, deeper water and more brutal temperatures. To test the true burliness of the newest crop, we threw four of the latest models into a backpack and headed out to the Tough Mudder adventure race at Mt. Snow in Vermont. With 10 miles of brutal terrain and more than 25 obstacles -- many of which involve being submerged in near-freezing water -- we were interested to see which cameras were still standing at the finish line.

Pentax has long been known for making solid entry-level DSLRs. Its latest, the K-r ($710, street, with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens), shows a noticeable improvement over the popular K-x it replaces, and continues a newer Pentaxian trend: colorful DSLRs. It is available in red, white, and the traditional black. Lens Test: Pentax-DA 35mm f/2.4 AL

This prime is priced just right.

Scaling up to an equivalent 52.5mm normal focal length on Pentax’s DSLR bodies, with their APS-C-sized sensors, the Pentax 35mm f/2.8 macro lens tested here exactly a year ago had a lot going for it. So why introduce this new 35mm lens with a slightly brighter, f/2.4, maximum aperture? Simply, cost. The older lens offered better than 1:1 subject magnification and almost no linear distortion. Plus, as one of Pentax’s Limited series, it was extremely well crafted. But it comes with a somewhat steep $540 price tag.
